Good Kids
I am very excited about my new job in Bow, but I will miss the Newport kids. They have been so good to me the past few months and I have really enjoyed my time with them. I've told them a few times that they saved my life this year - I can't imagine if I was still living so far away in Maine (nothing against Mom, of course!), substitute teaching, and feeling directionless. I'm pleased with how the Newport kids have grown as musicians the past few months and I have loved getting to know them. Even though I know I am making the right decision to move to Bow, it will still be tough to say goodbye. If the Newport job had paid better and not included elementary school, I could have easily considered staying longer.
Emily, one of my saxophone players, brought me a gift on Monday and it was this super cool Sigg bottle with dynamics written on it!! How cool is that??? I have a pink Sigg bottle I use every day and she knows I love them. She put flowers in the bottle and wrote me a really sweet note. What a good kid! I love the bottle and look forward to using it and thinking of her. She is a great student and a fun kid - plus she is studying abroad in Germany for all of next year, so she is a kid after my own heart. Maybe we'll meet up when I visit Berlin next year...
