Mirabus Tour

I've become a big fan of the Mirabus Tour in Lima. I went on one for my birthday last year and loved it, and the tour my parents and I went on last week was even better. It is a great way to see Central Lima at night (safely) and all lit up. I'm beginning to believe that Lima really is a beautiful city, at least parts of it. Here is the cathedral in the Plaza de Armas.

San Martin is a great hero in the history of Lima and Peru and this plaza is named after him. It is right around the corner from the Plaza de Armas and, while all the buildings in the Plaza de Armas are this beautiful orange/yellow color, all the ones in Plaza San Martin are white and are very striking.

A new part of the Mirabus tour includes stopping at a water fountain park in the middle of Lima. I didn't even realize it was here!! It was built in July and has become a huge hit. There are 6-8 fountains set up in this park and they are all lit up at night. For 4 soles (a little over $1) you get admission into the park and can walk around, looking at all the fountains. Some of them are even built for you to walk through and get wet. There were tons of Peruvian families at the park the Sunday night we were there, and lots of wet kids running around who had obviously had a great time playing in the fountains. It is just a really cool place. Who knew Lima had such interesting things?? :)
